A Weekend of Firsts

You are probably thinking I’m going to list all the things my 3 month old has done for the first time this month.  On the contrary,  the firsts I’m referring to, is the place I got in the Halloween happenings this weekend.  Let me elaborate…

Saturday night, we went to our friends’ Halloween party and dressed up quite nicely.  I’m a flapper, Dan is Al Capone, Bria is Cinderella, and my little Sofia is a snow princess.

Bria got to hang with her peeps.

And of course, they had a donut eating contest.  Now, I’ve been training for this contest my whole life- eating donuts as fast as I can is a forte of mine.  (especially if they are Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice…)  Here we are getting ready.

Leave it to the weight watcher girls to get 1st and 2nd.  Look how close it was!!!

On Sunday, we went over to my aunt and uncle’s house for chili and a pumpkin carving contest.  After they are all carved, we vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.  Here is Dan being the best husband in the world by cleaning out my pumpkin for me.  Oh, yeah, Bria was “helping” by playing with the sharp objects all around.

Here are the entries… Dan’s skull and cross bones:

My cousin, Richie’s joker and his wife, Annie’s freehand spider (very impressive):

Earl’s spider and web:

My cousin Scott’s 10 minute creation:

And the winner is…… my witch in the moonlight!

Dan and Annie tied for 2nd and Earl came in 3rd.  Of course, we have to give props to Richie with his Honorable Mention award!

Thanks to all for such a wonderful winning weekend!

  1. You must just win first at everything!!! You are awesome! That picture of you and Emily is STILL my favorite!

  2. No way is Danny Al Capone- he’s a dead ringer for Vito Corleone!

  3. Ok, you’re right. Brae’s smile is pretty funny! And just for the record, had my donut not fallen on the ground frosting first, I would have come close. It was hard because I kept picking up rocks with it.

  4. Cute costumes you guys! We wish we could have been there for the annual pumpkin carving contest. You guys would have been blown away by my Spongebob creation.

  5. I’m with the one who says he’s Vito Corleone. Maybe because Robert DeNiro played both Al Capone in “The Untouchables” and Vito Corleone in “The GodFather II” but still, it’s Vito Corleone over Capone any day. You look cute too by the way.

  6. You look fabulous!! Looking at your blog makes me miss you so much. It is crazy how much life changes once you are out of college. Your girlies are beautiful!
