Rise and Shout the Cougars are out!

We have really missed seeing the BYU Cougars in action since moving to Colorado.  Well, thanks to Dan’s sister, Gioey, and her brother-in-law, Michael Alisa #48, we got to see them in 5th row action at Hughes Stadium in Ft. Collins against the CSU Rams.  I brought my camera but forgot the battery that was charging in my kitchen.  Hence, the lack of pictures.  It was truly a roller coaster game.  When I watched Max Hall throw an interception with 2 minutes left in the game, I almost threw up.  Then, the Cougs drove down the field and scored a touchdown and held the Rams to win 42-45!  It was so much fun!  We were able to take some of our True Cougar Blue friends with us and it was a blast to cheer on our team.  Go Cougs!

A Weekend of Firsts

You are probably thinking I’m going to list all the things my 3 month old has done for the first time this month.  On the contrary,  the firsts I’m referring to, is the place I got in the Halloween happenings this weekend.  Let me elaborate…

Saturday night, we went to our friends’ Halloween party and dressed up quite nicely.  I’m a flapper, Dan is Al Capone, Bria is Cinderella, and my little Sofia is a snow princess.

Bria got to hang with her peeps.

And of course, they had a donut eating contest.  Now, I’ve been training for this contest my whole life- eating donuts as fast as I can is a forte of mine.  (especially if they are Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice…)  Here we are getting ready.

GO!

Leave it to the weight watcher girls to get 1st and 2nd.  Look how close it was!!!

On Sunday, we went over to my aunt and uncle’s house for chili and a pumpkin carving contest.  After they are all carved, we vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.  Here is Dan being the best husband in the world by cleaning out my pumpkin for me.  Oh, yeah, Bria was “helping” by playing with the sharp objects all around.

Here are the entries… Dan’s skull and cross bones:

My cousin, Richie’s joker and his wife, Annie’s freehand spider (very impressive):

Earl’s spider and web:

My cousin Scott’s 10 minute creation:

And the winner is…… my witch in the moonlight!

Dan and Annie tied for 2nd and Earl came in 3rd.  Of course, we have to give props to Richie with his Honorable Mention award!

Thanks to all for such a wonderful winning weekend!

Rolling over, laughing

Sofia is such a fun baby!  She loves to laugh and we will do anything to get her do it!

She is also rolling over from her stomach to her back.  My girls do NOT like tummy-time.  They love to see what’s going on.  Not a whole lot to see when you are only inches from the floor.

Our Wedding Day

Dan and I were married on October 12, 2002 at the LDS Bountiful, Utah temple.  There are so many things I remember about Dan on our beautiful wedding day…

How adorable he is…

How he made me laugh…

They way he held me close…

How he danced with me…

and sung to me in Italian…

the way he kissed me…

and kissed me…

and how in love with him that I was…

and still am.  Happy 6 years, my love.

Sofia is 3 months old!

Here is my adorable 3-month-old, Sofia!  She is starting to laugh which is what she was doing during this little photo shoot.  She loves “talking” to Bria and patty-cake with her feet (sure way to get her to smile and laugh).  It’s so fun to watch her get really focused on a toy and then bat at it until she grabs it!  She is an amazing sleeper who has slept through the night since she was a couple weeks old.  She tries to sit up in her car seat and it’s so funny to see this little baby pull her head up and then lay back to do it again.

Bria loves to hold her baby sister and I couldn’t resist posting this one of the two of them!  I’m a lucky mom!

Here is Sofia and Bria answering questions.  You never know what a 2-year-old will come up with.

Haunted House

We made this gingerbread “haunted house” for a family activity.  I don’t suggest the black icing with a 2-year old.

It was really fun to do!  I did the orange icing, Dan did the black, and Bria ate the candy.  A good time was had by all!  And yes, the front door is sliding down…

Carmel Apples!

I understand I’m supposed to dip my apple in candy, but it’s sticky!

Mom to the rescue!

Now I want to eat it!

mmmmmmmmmmmm!

This sticky stuff is so good!

Girls night out

For months we have been talking about having a girls night out.  But I think it took some husbands being out of town for fun instead of business that finally got this night scheduled.  We first went to Hobby Lobby and got to actually look around without having kids play with everything in sight.  Then we went to Thai Basil and I was really nervous about my first experience eating Thai food (I’m a meat and potatoes kind of girl).  My friends were so good to me that we all ordered different dishes so that I could taste them with out committing fully to a random meal.  I was so pleased with my Sesame Chicken that I had to have all of my friends try it- and yes, Emily, it was the best one!!  After a great dinner and fabulous stories, we didn’t want the night to end so we went to TGI Fridays and got Brownie Obsessions!!  That’s when the dirt came out and we laughed so hard my cheeks hurt!  I’m already looking forward to our next girls night out!

Rockies game

In April, we went to our first Rockies game with Dan’s family when they came out to visit.  We saw them lose to the Diamond Backs.  Apparently, we have some sort of Arizona karma, because 5 months later we got tickets with my cousin, Annie’s, school and sure enough, the Rockies were playing the D-backs.  We had a great time watching the Rockies win this time!

Bria loves watching baseball and had a great time teasing her mom about climbing the railing.

The best part was the fireworks show at the end!  Bria cuddled up with Dan, Sofia fell asleep, and we all enjoyed the music and fireworks display.

This was such a fun family night!
